Athletics SA is excited to hold the Throws Invitational Series. This Series is being held to assist high-performance throw athletes with their chances on the national and international stage. This Series will allow athletes to set state records and national and international qualifying standards.

Competition Rules

Athletes will be provided with a minimum of two warm-up throws.

Athletes will be provided with three competition throws. Following this, the top eight athletes will receive an additional three throws. All athletes with a classification will receive six throws.

All Athletes must complete a Shoe Declaration before the first competition (Open & U20 athletes). https://worldathletics.org/about-iaaf/documents/technical-information.

Javelin, Hammer & Shot will be limited to 10 athletes. Discus will be limited to 13 athletes. If the limit of athletes is reached, those using the competition as preparation for national/ international events (World Champs, World Paras, World Uni) will be prioritised.

Athletes must be 15 as of December 31st 2024, to enter.

Athletes must be current ASA members or a member of another state association to compete.

Athletics SA Shoe Declaration (U20 and Open athletes)
Location
All events during the Throws Invitational Series will be held at the SA Athletics Stadium (World Athletics Class 2 Facility) to ensure they're sanctioned by World Athletics & Athletics Australia. Participants and volunteers will be responsible for assisting with the maintenance of the infield during competitions to ensure Athletics SA continues to get approval for using the infield.
Registration Fee and Entry
The registration fee for the Throws Invitational Series is per day. This fee is the same regardless of membership type, as this is an extra series of events that are not incorporated into the membership fees. You will be refunded less transaction fees if you register for the event and are not on the invitational list.
