Athletics SA Shoe Declaration (U20 and Open athletes)
Date TBA

Event information

World Athletics has amended Rule 5 in relation to shoes worn in competition.

Athletics SA requires all athletes competing in the Open and Under 20 age divisions (including Para) to submit a Shoe Declaration prior to their first State Championship/ National competition / Permit meet / Continental Tour meet.

Once you have declared your shoes, the declaration will be used for the remainder of the season. Any amendments to your Shoe Declaration can be made by submitting it online or in-person to Athletics SA Staff.

Example: If you are 16-year-old athlete competing in the Open or U20 age group, then you need to comply with the Shoe Regulations.

Please note that World Athletics continually amend the Approved Shoe List as they complete their testing of shoes. Therefore, athletes should ensure they check this list on a regular basis.

By registering, the athlete affirms that:

a) I will compete in the shoes outlined in this declaration.
b) I will follow the shoe check procedure at the event and understand that, even though the shoes are checked, they could be submitted for further random tests or full testing after I have finished competing;
c) Only shoes checked in accordance with Rule 5 of the Technical Rules and in accordance with the kit and shoe check procedure at the event can be worn. I understand that it is at my risk if I change my shoes without having them checked.
