Physio Smart are proudly supporting Team SA at the Australian Athletics Championships in 2024. ELIGIBILITY & QUALIFICATION

**Note: To be eligible for the State Team, athletes must hold a membership other than Recreation with an Athletics SA-recognised club.

ASA Minimum Performance Standard -

If you are meeting the eligibility requirement to be included in the SA team via winning a medal at the State Championships in March you will also need to achieve the ASA Performance Standard (found below) in your event to be able to enter.  This year, the Minimum Performance Standard does NOT apply to medalists from the VIVA SA All Schools Championships or State Combined Championships as both Championships have already been conducted.

*Para athletes performances will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

ASA Additional Event Standard - 

If you are wanting to enter additional events to the one you met the eligibility criteria for to enable you to be included in the SA Team you will need to achieve the ASA Additional Event Standard (found below) in those event(s) to be considered eligible.

Sport Integrity Australia - 

All athletes competing in the Open category are required to have completed the Anti-Doping Fundamentals course as well as the Annual Update 2024 course.  More information and links to the courses can be found on the Sport Integrity Australia elearning website.

AGE CATEGORIES

The age categories for the 2024 Australian Athletics Championships are:

  • Under 13 - athletes must not have their thirteenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2010 or 2009)
  • Under 14 - athletes must not have their fourteenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2011 or later).
  • Under 15 - athletes must not have their fifteenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2010 or later).
  • Under 16 - athletes must not have their sixteenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2009 or later).
  • Under 17 - athletes must not have their seventeenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2008 or later).
  • Under 18 - athletes must not have their eighteenth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2007 or later).
  • Under 20 - athletes must not have their twentieth birthday on or before 31st December 2024 (i.e. must be born in 2005 or later).
  • Para - age groups will be Under 15, Under 17, Under 20.

**Note: Registration for the 2024 Australian Athletics Championships closes 5pm Wednesday 20th March.

Athletes who are interested in participating in a relay at Nationals must indicate this by ticking the relevant box during the nomination process.

 

For the Australian Athletics Championships, it is the responsibility of the athletes and coaches to manage their own accommodation and transport to the Stadium each day for the competition.

UNIFORM

State Team uniforms can be purchased through Athletics SA's official supplier VIVA Global Teamwear.

The minimum requirement for our State Team uniform is the competition kit (top & bottoms) as well as the State Team polo. 

Refer to the Technical Regulations for uniform requirements as they differ for open and under-age athletes. SA athletes should wear their Athletics SA walkout polo to the stadium and when not competing. When competing, athletes should wear their competition tee/singlet/crop top with Athletics SA tights or shorts (depending on whether in track, throws or jumps events).
