ASA is pleased to announce a partnership with the Larsen Athletics Scholarship to support athletes with the cost of training and competing in athletics.  Scholarships are awarded to athletes aged 14 to 21 to assist with the costs of registration, training access fees, uniforms, travel and equipment.  Scholarships up to $1,000 are available.

Background

The Larsen Athletics Scholarship Fund has been established to support athletes who can’t afford the costs associated with training and competing. Targeted at developing athletes aged between 14 and 21, the scholarship is available to all athletes who love athletics but are struggling to manage the costs associated.

The Scholarship will be provided for costs associated with the following:

  • Registration and Club Membership
  • Training Access Fees
  • Uniforms
  • Travel for competition
  • Equipment (including shoes, throwing implements, etc.)

Scholarships of up to $1,000 are available each year. The scholarship is not intended to cover payment of coaches.

Lynn and Bill Larsen

Lynn and Bill Larsen have been involved in athletics in Australia for over 40 years. They both have extensive experience as coaches with a philosophy that good quality coaching should be available for all. Lynn currently is the head coach of the Larsen’s Larrikins training squad that includes a number of South Australia’s premier para-athletes and a number of elite Masters athletes. She has coached both a number of athletes to Australian teams and was the coach of Brayden Davidson when he won the Paralympic Gold Medal for the T36 Long Jump at the Rio Paralympic Games.

Bill has retired from active coaching but continues to provide Lynn support in the background. Lynn is committed to continuing coaching for a number of years to come.
