All those present spoke of their excitement about the developments happening at Knox Park and how this supports the future of Athletics in our state and the opportunities this project will bring to the southern community.

Thank you to all present and for supporting this initiative.

The project will include:

Irrigated oval with 400m athletics track, athletics throw and jump facilities, shelter with barbeque and seating, priority site connecting footpath, priority landscaping and tree planting, fencing around the oval, storage shed, public toilet with disability access and services connections including stormwater, water and electricity.

Southern Athletics Club President Jason Stevens has continuously been a key voice behind the development and the fundraising of the Southern Sharks to add programs and equipment for the facility.

“the weekend before last we had a fundraiser which was attended by 163 people where we raised nearly $6,000,” said Stevens.

‘’We have also launched an Australian Sports Foundation project where all donations over $2 are fully tax deductible’’ This can be found below.

‘’ Other than that, the club and its members are excited to see work underway, we have had 40 members register on the first day of registrations being open and are targeting 150 members by 31st October.’’

‘’ We have also had initial contact with Special Olympics who are looking to partner with the club to provide programs once we are on the ground at Knox.’’

The current completion date flagged is March 2024, we will continue to keep our community updated during this process.
