Appointment - Development Manager: Blake Steele

Published Tue 25 Feb 2020

Athletics SA is pleased to announce that Blake Steele has been appointed as our Development Manager, taking over from Andrew Crawford on a full-time basis.

Blake is currently Surf Sports Development Officer with Surf Life Saving SA and prior to that was working with the City of Tea Tree Gully in the recreation and leisure department. His working history and personal experiences with athlete pathway development and coordination together with program conception, implementation and management will be valuable as he embarks on this role with Athletics SA. Blake’s athletics background is extensive and includes involvement with St Ignatius College in various capacities, United Collegians Club committee and as an athlete he represented Australia as a race walker and was a scholarship holder at the AIS in Canberra for three years, experiences I’m sure he can draw on for the benefit of Clubs and athletes alike.

Blake holds a Bachelor of Sports & Recreation Management from the University of South Australia and also undertook study in Sports Coaching & Exercise Science whilst in Canberra.

Blake will start with Athletics SA on Monday 2 March. Please join us in welcoming Blake to the staff team!

Andrew Crawford will depart Athletics SA in March after four and a half years. We wish Andrew all the best with his new challenges and aspirations!
