Fitzy's 5 is perfectly placed on the first Sunday of August as an official training event of the City-Bay Fun Run.

This event celebrates the life of David “Fitzy” Fitzsimons, one of Australia’s leading distance runners in the 1970s. Fitzy won 8 Australian Championships over 5000m and 10000m, including a double on three occasions. A dual Olympian, an Olympic finalist over 10000m, a 6th placing in the 1974 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal over 5000m at the 1977 World Cup made Dave Fitzsimons one of the greats. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and passed away at age 58.

Bibs can be collected from the Athletics SA marquee from 7:30am - 8:45am on the day of the event.

Members - Runners that are members of Athletics SA (16 years or over at 31st December) are eligible for State Championship medals for Open, U20, U18, O35 & O50 age groups.
Course Map: Start and finish are on War Memorial Drive.
Parking
Participants are encouraged to arrive early, with road closures in place on War Memorial Drive from 7am.
