Fitzy’s 5 in a South Australian Fun Run First
The third annual Fitzy’s 5 is shaping as the biggest yet and it has just become even more exciting with Athletics SA today announcing that competitors will have the opportunity to have their own personalised bib numbers for the event. In what is a first for a South Australian fun run, everyone who enters prior to 5pm on Wednesday 25th of July will have their name printed as their bib number.
“We have created an innovative event in Fitzy’s 5 and we want to continue to lead the way by looking at ways of continuing to build the event and adding to the experience of participants”, said Event Manager and Athletics SA Executive Director, Adam Bishop.
“Fitzy’s 5 is such an important event in that it honours the memory of one of South Australia’s greatest distance runners, David Fitzsimons, and raises vital funds for the Royal Adelaide Hospital Research Fund. This is our way of creating a legacy for Fitzy beyond his athletic achievements, but the event is also about community and bringing people together. Having your own name on a bib is normally a privilege reserved for the elite, but we’ve opened it up to everyone because whilst Fitzy was one of the best, he was also a regular guy”.
An example of the bib appears below (note that the final design is still under development). For more information and to enter Fitzy’s 5, click here
