Tommy took on the World... and won

In what would have to be one of the most inspirational, devastating and heart warming stories to come out of the sport this year, South Australia's Thomas Mattinson has won a Gold Medal at the CPISRA International Cup in Denmark.

Mattinson won Gold in the U14 RR2 100m and 400m at the Cup in Copenhagen, but overcame a series of obstacles just to get on the track.

Landing in Denmark, Mattinson's suitcase was nowhere to be seen at baggage claim, which sparked great concern as it contained life saving medicine, while his running Frame was also missing.

Confined to the wheelchair and the stocks of medicine that they carried onto the plane (a weeks supply), Mattinson's family did all they could to ensure their son's safety.

Following a story on the ABC, the Australian embassy in Denmark contacted the family and assisted in locating and transporting the required medicine.

The missing Frame made it's way to the Mattinsons just in time for his first race at the CPISRA International Cup.

After all this Mattinson, got out there and did what he does best - Frame Running - which resulted in two Gold Medals.

In his 100m Final he ran 25.71 and in the 400m it was a Personal Best 1:56.78.

More than 120 athletes from 14 countries competed at the Cup in Copenhagen, which also included a Development Camp and the opportunity to meet Connie Hansen, who designed the running frame.
