Adams Takes out the Noosa Bolt / Cocks wins the State 10km

Hills Districts Athletics Club Runner Caitlin Adams has won the Noosa Asics Bolt over the weekend, running 16:05 in the Queensland-based 5km Road Race.

Adams edged out Lauren Ryan (16:17) and Olympian Rose Davies (16:26) to make it back-to-back podiums in the Bolt.

Last year it was SA's Izzi Batt-Doyle who claimed victory in the Bolt, with Adams finishing second. 

SA's Max Stevens finished sixth overall, running 14:36, while Matthew Clarke ran eighth (14:44) and Adam Goddard 10th (14:56).

SA Olympian Jessica Stenson will tackle the New York Marathon this Sunday, November 6. 

It will be Stenson's debut New York Marathon and her first Marathon since she won Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July.


 

Athletics SA hosted its State 10,000m Championships on Sunday morning at the Bridgestone Athletics Centre in Salisbury. 

Runners competed over two Heats, battling very tricky, windy conditions. 

Flinders Athletic Club distance runner Jacob Cocks claimed the Open Men's State Title in comfortable fashion, running 30:07 ahead of club-mate Luke Mitchell (31:14) and Adelaide Harriers' Thomas Dowd (31:22). 

Adelaide Harriers' O35 athlete Tara Palm was the first woman accross the line, running 35:44, ahead of Port Adelaide's Monique Hollick who finished in 37:59.

Sam Hicks continued Adelaide Harriers' good day by winning the Men's O35 race in 34:47, ahead of Flinders pair Reece Tilbrook (35:25) and Steven Hodgson (38:27).  

Patricia Laird of the Adelaide Harriers won the Women's O50 event in 50:04, while Hills Districts athlete Timon Sideris T20 won the Men's Para race in 37:57.9.

Sideris will compete at the 2022 Virtus World Cross Country Championships in San Deigo, California later this month. 

The 10,000m event formed part of Athletics SA's new Recreational Running Series - the next race will be on November 19 with a 5000m PB Night - Registrations will open this week.
