The Board of the Athletic Association of South Australia welcomes Phil Wooding and Tamie Williams as newly appointed Board Members.
Wooding will take up the role of Finance Director, replacing Chris Hartwig who is departing after holding the position for the past two years. We extend our sincere thanks to Chris for his contributions to the Association during his time on the Board.
Wooding, himself a keen recreational runner, brings extensive skill and knowledge from his experience in senior finance roles, and is currently the Chief Financial Officer at MGA Whittles Group.
“As a recreational runner, I have run in a range of events over the last 5-10 years including Fitzy's 5 and the Adelaide Half Marathon locally, right through to the Sydney, Melbourne and Gold Coast Marathons,” he said.
“I'm excited to combine this interest in running and athletics with the professional skills I have gained during my time in senior finance roles.
“It is an exciting time for athletics and I'm looking forward to contributing to the Board of Athletics SA as Finance Director.”
Williams has officially joined in a Board appointed role and is set to attend her first meeting in October.
She is currently employed in the media industry as the Head of Capability, Learning and Development at Southern Cross Austereo, and has a pivotal role in helping teach and train sales teams and staff.
She looks to bring a focus on commercial activity, community engagement, and connection to continue the ongoing growth of the sport.
“I’m genuinely excited to contribute to Athletics SA in a way that blends my commercial experience and strong focus on community,” she said.
“Sport has always been a big part of my life – I see it as a powerful connector that galvanises people around core values like wellbeing, determination and collaboration.
“I’m looking forward to helping create opportunities that strengthen the organisation, support our athletes and inspire broader engagement across South Australia.”
Athletics SA President Jane Russo is excited to have the skill sets of both Phil and Tamie on the Board.
“It has been some time since we’ve had the skills that Tamie will bring on the Board and we are delighted to welcome Phil to the athletics family,” she said.
“I look forward to the contributions they both will make to the governance, sustainability and future direction of our sport.”
