Adelaide's PREMIER 5km FUN RUN, combines with the State Road 5km Championships!

Event Information

Welcome to our seventh round of the 2023 winter season and our premier 5km road event!

This event celebrates the life of David “Fitzy” Fitzsimons, one of Australia’s leading distance runners in the 1970s. Fitzy won 8 Australian Championships over 5000m and 10000m, including a double on three occasions. A dual Olympian, an Olympic finalist over 10000m, a 6th placing in the 1974 Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal over 5000m at the 1977 World Cup made Dave Fitzsimons one of the greats. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and passed away at age 58.

All participants registered before 26/07/2023 will receive their names printed on their bibs.

Timetable

Kids' Athletics Clinic - 8:45 AM

5km Start Time - 9 AM

*ASA members involved in the championship are asked to muster on the startline with General Public gathering behind them.

Toilets

Toilets are available inside the Adelaide Archery Clubroom on War Memorial Drive and are available on Bundey’s Road, Park 9.

Parking

Participants are encouraged to arrive early, with road closures in place on War Memorial Drive from 7am.

Presentations

On event day, presentations for the Open & Para Men's & Women's will take place shortly after finishing the event. Other age groups will be announced via social media following the event.

First Aid personnel will be on hand during the event and will be located at the finish line/admin area.

Race bibs can be collected from these locations at the following times:

Friday the 4th & Saturday the 5th Between 8 AM & 2 PM.

On Race Day

Race bibs can be collected from the event marquee located near the finish line at the Adelaide Archery Club. If you intend to collect your race bib on race day, please arrive early to enable enough time for collection.
