Southern AC Become Newest SA One Club

Athletics SA congratulates the Southern Athletics Club on their merge with the Southern Little Athletics Centre (formerly Noarlunga) to become the state’s newest One Club.
The Sharks are now the 9th Athletics SA member club to merge into a One Club, alongside South Coast, Western, Port Adelaide, Salisbury, Northern Districts, Tea Tree Gully, Mt Barker Districts and new member club Sunraysia.
With the announcement, Southern AC also launched a new logo design using their beloved shark icon – a new, refreshed, unified look for the One Club.
The merger comes a year after the $2.7 million redevelopment of Knox Park, featuring a new 400m grass track, which has become the home of Southern AC.
Southern’s President Jason Stevens says he is excited for the future of athletics in the south of the state, and that this merger is a great opportunity to continue to strengthen the sport.
“This merger represents an exciting new era for athletics in the south. By uniting as one club, we have created a stronger and more inclusive community that can offer greater opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities,” he said.
“Together, we can provide clearer pathways from grassroots participation to elite performance, while maintaining the welcoming, family-friendly environment that makes our region so special.
“For the Southern athletics community, this means more coaching support, improved competition opportunities, and the chance to bring people together under a shared vision.
“We are proud to be moving forward as one club, ensuring that the future of athletics in the south is vibrant, sustainable, and inspiring for generations to come.”
To celebrate the merger and 50 years of athletics in the south, Southern Athletics Club are offering free Little Athletics memberships for the 2025-26 season with the use of a sports voucher.
“If you’re looking to get into or back into athletics and have a sports voucher you can join the Sharks for free. Chat to us, we would love everyone to come and be a part of it!" he said.
