Salisbury Athletics Club

New club joins the fold!

We are very excited to announce that we have a new club joining Athletics SA! 
 
Please give a warm welcome to new kids on the block who will be competing in the green and gold – Salisbury Athletics Club. 

Originally applying to become an official Athletics SA club last season, the current Salisbury Little Athletics Centre took on some feedback and worked hard to address that over the past 12 months. We are now very pleased to see them compete amongst our existing Clubs in the upcoming 2023-24 Summer Season.  

Salisbury Vice President Tracey Heath noted “This is a historical moment for our club, as we celebrate our 50th year of being involved in Athletics our members can now continue on with the sport that we all love well into their adult years with the support of the club behind them.” 

Shane Fuller, Athletics SA CEO said “We are delighted to welcome the athletes, coaches, officials and families of the Salisbury club to Athletics SA. Their introduction will bring a new rivalry on the track and creates choice in the northern suburbs for athletes to stay involved with the sport as they move through secondary school and become adults. 

“Athletics in the north has grown exponentially with the opening of the Bridgestone Athletics Centre in 2021 and Athletics SA is determined to empower Clubs to support athletes, young and old, to develop their skills and achieve their goals all while having fun at the track. 

“As the official pathway organisation for national championships and selection on Australian teams, Athletics SA also looks forward to athletes from Salisbury being part of Team SA in the near future!”   

Athlete Jayden Williamson mentioned “I’m glad to be able to stay at Salisbury Athletics Club for Seniors. I have been at the Club for 4 years doing Little Athletics and it's such a great atmosphere, I can't wait to make more and better memories there.” 

Pending ratification by their members next month we look forward to welcoming Salisbury into our athletics community come the new Summer Season in October.
