Australian Junior Championships
The Australian Junior Championships is the premier national track and field event for junior athletes. With more than 1800 athletes competing over 5 days of competition, this is an large, exciting event.
2014 Junior Championships-Athletics SA State Team
Athletics SA will be looking to send its best representative team ever to the 2014 Junior Championships in Sydney March 12-16th. The event, for underage (U14 – U20) athletes will be held at the Sydney Olympic Park from March 12-16 2014.
South Australian Team Selection Policy
1.1 The 2014 Australian Junior National Championship will be held 12th – 16th March 2014 at Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales.
1.2 Age categories for the Championship will be U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 and U20.
1.3 Age is taken as of 31st December 2014.
2.1 All athletes must be born between 2002 and 1995 (U14 through to U20.)
2.2 All athletes must be registered with Athletics SA and a member club.
2.2.1 Little Athletics Dual registered athletes are considered to be fully registered.
3. Qualifying for State Team
3.1 Athletes who achieve the Australian Qualifying Standard for an event during the qualifying period will achieve automatic selection.
3.1.1 The qualifying period is the following: 7th October 2013 – 10th February 2014.
3.1.2 Only approved events conducted under IAAF rules will be considered.
3.1.3 Athletes must achieve the Australian Qualifying Standard of the age group that they will be competing in at the Australian Junior Championships.
3.1.4 Athletes must achieve the Australian Qualifying Standards in all events they wish to compete in.
3.2 Relay runners will be selected from within the team only. Individual athletes will not be selected as relay runners.
3.2.1 All athletes must make themselves available to compete in the relay events if requested by team management. Failure to compete in the relay team (without reasonable explanation) may result in removal from the state team.
4.1 Entries will close at Athletics South Australia on 12th February 2013 at 12:00pm.
4.2 It is the athlete’s responsibility to inform Athletics SA if they have reached the qualifying standards and that they would like to be included in the State Team.

4.2.2 A $210 (inclusive of a non-refundable$10 admin fee) deposit will be required to confirm your position.
3. Late Entries
3.1 Should athletes reach the qualifying standards, as stated in 3.1, after the qualifying period as set by Athletics South Australia they will be eligible to enter as a late entry.
3.2 Late entries can be submitted after 12th February, but no later than 12:00pm 3rd March.
3.3 Athletes entering via the late entries will not have guaranteed acceptance into the field, and will not be printed in the official program as per Athletics Australia ruling.

4. Late Entry Fees:
4.1 All entries after 12pm on 12th February 2014 will be subjected to a double entry fee of $40.00 per athlete per event, as per Athletics Australia ruling.
4.2 All entries after 12pm on 12th February 2014 will be subjected to a $10 administration fee.
5.1 Athletes can appeal any selection decision by filling out and returning the State Teams Appeals form by Wednesday 19th February 2014.

5.2 The appeal will be reviewed in accordance with the Athletics SA Member Protection Policy which is available at www.athleticssa.com.au.
5.3 Those who are accepted through the appeals process will not be required to pay the late entry fee provided they confirm their entry by paying the $210 deposit before 21st February.
Before you nominate for the team, please make sure you have achieved the qualifying standards.
