Athletics South Australia (ASA) is the peak State Sporting Organisation responsible for the administration, governance and development of athletics including elite and recreational pathways in track and field, cross country running, race walking and road running in South Australia.
Athletics SA and sub-brand Running SA administers a large range of services for members and non-members, including development programs and the provision of upwards of 50 events annually ranging from local track and field competitions, to fun runs, to regular national and (in some cases) international events. Based at Athletics Stadium at Mile End, the Chief Executive Officer manages seven full and part time staff, up to 20 casual staff, oversees 1,000 volunteers critical to the running of the sport, and 21 clubs consisting of up to 1,500 registered athletes and over 35,000 participants involved in recreational athletics programs and events.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of athletics in South Australia. Reporting to the Board for the management and leadership of the organisation, responsible for ensuring that outcomes are achieved in accordance with strategic and business plans in a professional, effective and efficient manner.
ASA is seeking a new CEO to lead the organisation to be strategically and operationally successful now and into the future. Key priorities for next CEO will include a review of the strategic plan, management of the $1.1 million upgrade to the Athletic Stadium, re-branding and marketing strategy, developing recreational pathway partnerships and securing commercial opportunities.
The role requires a highly motivated and innovative leader with experience in successfully delivering membership services. Working with a small team, the CEO will need to be prepared to be operationally hands on and to use sound judgement to be an effective and capable decision maker in the interests of achieving the best outcomes for the ASA and its community.
To be consider for this role, you will have a proven track record in managing a membership services organisation, driving business development, securing sponsorship, negotiating crucial partnerships and maintaining effective stakeholder relations.
